Postfin Courier Terms of Service

These Terms and Conditions govern your relationship with Postfin Courier (“Postfin”) and regulate your use of our courier services.

Please take special note of the paragraphs in bold as they:

  • Constitute an acknowledgement of a fact by you;
  • Limit or exclude Postfin’s obligations, liabilities, and legal responsibilities towards you; and/or
  • Constitute an assumption of risk by you, which may result in liability for increased or additional costs.

1. Introduction

For the purposes of these terms and conditions:

  • Business Day means a day which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or official public holiday in South Africa.
  • Collection Point means the Postfin branch or designated location where your parcel will be collected.
  • Original Site means the location from which the parcel is sent.
  • Recipient means the person who receives the parcel.
  • Sender means the person who instructs Postfin to deliver the parcel.
  • Working Hours means the operating hours of the relevant Postfin branch.
  • You means the Sender or Recipient, depending on the context.
  • Personal Information means your personal information as defined and processed in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

These terms and conditions become binding on the Sender when payment is made for the courier service and on the Recipient upon collection of the parcel.

Postfin may amend these terms, service features, or fees at any time. Your continued use of Postfin services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.

2. Overview of Postfin Courier Services

  • You can select a Collection Point for delivery.
  • You must provide true, accurate, and complete personal details including name, contact number, and identification if requested.
  • Payment must be made in full at the point of sending the parcel.
  • You will receive a parcel reference number for tracking purposes.
  • Parcels can be tracked via Postfin’s website or by contacting Customer Care.
  • Postfin will notify the Recipient of delivery and provide any necessary collection instructions.

3. Prohibited Items

You may not send any of the following via Postfin:

  • Dangerous goods (explosives, firearms, knives, hazardous chemicals, flammable materials)
  • Perishable or bulk food items
  • Human remains or ashes
  • Illegal goods or items prohibited by law
  • Live animals
  • High-value items such as cash, jewelry, precious metals, or currency
  • Aerosols, fragile items (glass, ceramics, porcelain), or household chemicals
  • Prescription medication restricted by law

Postfin reserves the right to retain, inspect, or hand over parcels containing prohibited or illegal items to the authorities without liability, and may destroy contents without refund.

4. Packaging

  • You are responsible for ensuring parcels are safely packaged to avoid damage during transit.
  • Postfin is not liable for any damage caused by improper packaging.
  • Parcels must comply with weight and size restrictions as per Postfin requirements.

5. Delivery of Parcels

  • Delivery typically takes 3–5 business days, depending on service type.
  • Delivery times are estimates; Postfin is not liable for delays unless caused by gross negligence.
  • Parcels will be held at Collection Points for 14 calendar days. After this period, parcels may be returned, donated, sold, stored, or destroyed at Postfin’s discretion.

6. OTP and Security

  • You must keep any one-time passwords (OTPs) secure and not share them.
  • If OTP confidentiality is compromised, immediately notify Postfin.
  • Unauthorized collection using your OTP will be considered authorized unless gross negligence by Postfin can be proven.

7. Limitation of Liability

Use of Postfin services is at your own risk.

Postfin is not liable for:

  • Damage to parcels unless directly caused by gross negligence
  • Indirect, special, or consequential losses
  • Delays or failure caused by events beyond our control (fire, flood, strikes, acts of God, system outages, etc.)

Where liability exists, it is limited to R500 per parcel. Additional parcel insurance is available for higher coverage.

8. Indemnity and Warranty

  • You confirm that you are the lawful owner of parcels and that they do not contain prohibited items.
  • You indemnify Postfin against claims arising from breach of warranty, incorrect instructions, or unauthorized delivery.
  • You warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into and be bound by these terms.

9. Use of Personal Information

  • By using Postfin services, you consent to collection, storage, and processing of personal information to provide services and comply with POPIA.
  • You consent to receive notifications, updates, or promotional messages.
  • You may withdraw consent for marketing messages at any time. Postfin will retain personal information as legally permitted.

10. General

  • These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Postfin.
  • If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain effective.
  • Postfin may use subcontractors to fulfill obligations.
  • Failure to enforce terms does not waive Postfin’s rights.

11. Age Restriction

  • You must be 18 years or older to use Postfin services.
  • Users under 18 may only use services with parental or guardian involvement.
